Foundation position
Privacy is a release gate, not a later add-on.
This page describes the current engineering approach. It is not the final legal privacy notice and does not replace review by the project Information Officer and South African legal counsel.
Current commitments
- No real learner information is used in the foundation demo.
- Each school will be isolated as a separate tenant at database level.
- Learner information will be limited to what is necessary for teaching, assessment and support.
- Access will follow school-approved roles and least-privilege permissions.
- Retention, correction, export and deletion rules will be agreed before a live pilot.
- The school and provider roles under POPIA will be recorded contractually for each data flow.
Before real learner data: complete the POPIA role assessment, operator agreement, Information Officer review, child-data authorisation assessment, retention schedule, incident procedure and school sign-off.
